On December 7-th and 8-th, our 2nd Annual Spoonbill Nest Youth Conference for Future was an extraordinary success. We had over 550 registrants, who were presented with 16+ hours of live streaming conversations, insights, and keynote speeches from over 40 local and international experts. In contrast to last year, this time, we organized Albania’s first hybrid-online youth conference.
WHAT WAS THIS YEARS THEME?
This year’s themes were Sustainability, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, Management, and Soft Skills. Our amazing speakers made sure to bring a new perspective, not only for the youngsters but also for parents, teachers, and institutions. In conjunction with our co-presenter, the City of Elbasan, some presentations were watched by up to 5K viewers on Facebook, and our social media reach was over 50,000 people.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FORWARD TO?
Just as we promised last year, each of the authorities started their speeches with a follow up of the promises they made last year. Although it has been a tough year, we were glad to hear that there was progress. We continue to be committed to bringing change to our city. Something different this year was also the SpoonbillNest Innovation Center.
We have also extended our Green Team. By taking this step, we want to help promote the initiatives needed, for Elbasan, to become a Smart & Green City by 2025. Additionally, our Youth Committee continues to hold stakeholders accountable for their commitments.
COMMITMENTS OF SPOONBILLNEST 2020
Elbasan Municipality – Under the leadership of Mayor Gledian Llatja, has a clear vision for Elbasan Digital 2025, a smart & green city, to prepare the society for 4th Industrial Revolution, BPO excellence service center, all by tackling the 17 United Nations Challenges.
• Swiss Contact – TIK & Tourism Management curricula, and bring the Swiss educational system in Elbasan.
• Positive Planet (Jacques Attali) – Joint-venture possibilities.
• Robert Gajda & Darian Konomi – Disabled people empowerment in Elbasan.
• EBRD (Matteo Colangeli) – Support Elbasan Digital City 2025.
• Oracle (Jane Richardson) – Supporting women, disabled people, youth, and education.
• Life-Long Learning Platform (Brikena Xhomaqi) – Facilitate inclusion of Albanian & Elbasan nonprofits, including SpoonbillNest Innovation Center, in the Lifelong Learning Platform.
• ATTA (Carmen Schrodt) in cooperation with Armand Cakalli from IHF & EHF- Including sports and outdoor activities in school curricula in the Elbasan District.
• Knauf (Almir Dhimitri) – Contribution to VET schools curricula with materials, lectures, and practice. Collaboration with Labour Office (Marsida Hyseni) and AKPA (Elira Demiraj) on analyzing the job market and implementing training programs based on the business needs.
• A. Xhuvani University (Elvira Fetahu & Elda Çela) – Business consultation group.
